Young Contractors
 

Members are invited to participate in any of our 20-plus special interest committees. Committee participation allows contractors to share ideas, develop policies and programs and establish valuable contacts with industry leaders and state and federal agencies.

Committees play a vital role in the CAWV. They are the lifeblood of the association. With the cooperation of members who volunteer their time and expertise, the association is better able to serve the needs of the construction industry in West Virginia. Please contact the CAWV office at 304-342-1166 for more information on getting involved in committee work. Task Forces meet on an issue by issue basis..

Budget & Finance:
Responsible for the general supervision of the finance of the association.

Economic Development: * TASK FORCE
Help economic development authorities provide accurate and realistic construction cost estimates and promote economic development in West Virginia.

EXPO:
Promote interest and coordinate annual trade show activities.

Headquarters:
Monitor and recommend action to improve and/or maintain the up keep of the CAWV office building and property.

HUB/PAC:
To identify and help elect qualified people to the WV Legislature.

Joint Architects:
Contractors work with architects to ensure and improve construction procedures and programs.

Joint Concrete:
Work with WVDOH & FHWA to ensure and improve concrete construction procedures on highway projects/ programs.

Joint Utilities:
Work with WVDOH, FHWA and Engineers to ensure and improve utility construction procedures on highway projects and other utility related programs.

Program:
Research/ recommend meeting locations as well as to develop program and meeting activities.

Public Relations:
Improve CAWV and construction industry's image as well as increase public education.

Young Contractors:
To provide guidance and knowledge to future leaders of the construction industry.



Environmental
: TASK FORCE
Keeps members informed of environmental legislation, regulatory and legal action impacting the construction industry.

Education:
Promote interest and develop programs for construction education at all levels.

Executive:
Serves as an interim governing body between meetings of the Board of Directors.

Joint Cooperative:
Work with WVDOH & FHWA to ensure and improve construction procedures on highway projects/programs.

Legislative:
To review, monitor and promote necessary legislative activities of the CAWV.

Membership:
Monitor and recommend action on the recruitment of new members and the retention of current members.

Safety & Crime Prevention:
To improve construction industry performance through prevention and effective safety programs.

Scholarship:
Review and select Annual Scholarship recipient.

Strategic Planning:
Determine industry and association needs and make recommendations to Board of Directors to meet these needs.

Workers'/Unemployment Comp: TASK FORCE
To monitor and recommend action to improve or maintain workers' and unemployment compensation program.
