Putnam County Students Complete 2026 Build It Up Program
This week, the Build It Up educational initiative concluded its spring programming at Scott Teays Elementary in Putnam County. A key component of the broader Build West Virginia initiative, Build It Up introduces students to the construction industry through immersive, hands-on activities that go beyond traditional classroom learning. The program is designed to spark interest in construction careers at an early age while highlighting the important role the industry plays in building strong communities across West Virginia.
As part of the final session, CAWV staff joined Olivia Rees and Chet Rodabaugh with West Virginia Paving, Inc. and Brad Coleman with Anderson Equipment Company to give students an up-close look at real construction equipment and the many career opportunities available within the industry. Students also received certificates of completion in recognition of their participation in the program.
CAWV extends its appreciation to Brandon with West Virginia Paving, Inc. and Tim Spradling with Benchmark Construction Company, Inc. for assisting with equipment delivery and helping make the experience possible for the students.
