A joint press conference was held April 11, 2002 to kickoff the new "Hard at Work" highway safety sign and to inform the public of National Work Zone Safety Week.

The CAWV joined the West Virginia Department of Highways and the Federal Highway Administration in presenting the new safety sign, which was designed to help keep highway workers safe and to alert motorist to work areas.

Secretary Fred VanKirk, DOH Highway Engineer Joe Deneault, and Federal Highway Administrator Tom Smith attended the unveiling of the sign. Area media representatives were also present for this exciting event. The new safety signs are now posted on every major highway construction site.
