2008 - 2009 OFFICERS INSTALLED AT CAWV ANNUAL MEETING

Michael D. Griffith, vice president of J.F. Allen Company, Buckhannon, was elected president of the Contractors Association of West Virginia at the association's Annual Meeting held July 10-13 at The Greenbrier. Griffith replaces John S. Casto, vice president of West Virginia Heating & Plumbing Company, Charleston, who will serve on the Board of Directors as immediate past president.

Serving with President Griffith as officers of the CAWV for the coming year are: David B. Alvarez, president, MEC Construction, Inc., Bridgeport, senior vice president; John H. Strickland, president, Maynard C. Smith Construction Company, Inc., Charleston, vice president; B. Lee Snyder, president, Snyder Environmental Services, Kearneysville, treasurer; and Gene Thompson, vice president, Ahern & Associates, South Charleston, secretary.

AGC PROVIDES TEMPLATE FOR DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE POLICIES AND PROGRAM

The Associated General Contractors (AGC) of America has developed templates to help members write their drug-free workplace programs and polices. CAWV members who are looking for a template to develop an Alcohol and Drug-Free Workplace Policy can use the AGC documents available at http://agc.org/cs/
labor_hr_topical_resources. Sample forms included are Drug-Free Workplace Statement, Policy Statement and Employee Acknowledgment and Consent. Members using the AGC formats provided will have to customize the content related to specific rules in the West Virginia Drug-Free Workplace Act.
